Ukraine and France are strengthening cooperation on damage assessment and restoration of Ukrainian transport systems, with an emphasis on the transition to low-carbon mobility.

The relevant memorandum was signed by Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksandr Kubrakov and Minister Delegate for Transport at the French Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion Clément Beaune, Ukrinform reports.

"Stable transport services and mobility is what we have been working on with our French partners since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In the near future, we are planning to strengthen cooperation in providing Ukraine with bridges and supporting Ukrzaliznytsia. There are already agreements on rails supply and locomotive fleet. In addition, we are working out the participation of French partners in the reconstruction and support of Ukrainian air navigation," the Ukrainian minister said.

Kubrakov noted that the memorandum envisages cooperation on assessing damage inflicted by Russia and restoration of Ukrainian transport systems, with an emphasis on the transition to low-carbon mobility. In particular, France will provide expert support and promote the participation of French companies in Ukraine’s recovery.

Cooperation will also cover the areas of railways, public urban transport, multimodal transport and logistics, air and sea transport, road management, as well as the development of environmentally friendly mobility. A joint monitoring committee will be set up to implement joint projects initiated within the framework of the document.

As reported earlier, the Ukrainian Ministry of Reconstruction and the International Organization for Migration signed a memorandum of cooperation on assistance to internally displaced persons, people returning to their places of permanent residence, and other war-affected population groups.
