Shmyhal: International partners to provide $115B to Ukraine
"International partners will provide Ukraine with $115 billion in long-term support. This will not only ensure our financial stability but also send a clear signal to Russia that Ukraine's allies will support us as long as it takes. Until complete victory," Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal posted on Telegram after participating in a ministerial-level round table in support of Ukraine at the World Bank.
He emphasized that "the mobilization of resources for the restoration of Ukraine is one of the main topics of the working visit to Washington."
"We start the restoration right now. In 2023, $14 billion will be needed for rapid reconstruction projects. We negotiate with partners to attract all the necessary funds already this summer. In this way, we will be able to fulfil all the tasks in the five priority areas of recovery," the Prime Minister noted.
As reported, the Prime Minister of Ukraine began the main part of his visit to the USA on Wednesday. The program of his stay in Washington, D.C. includes participation in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. In addition, Shmyhal is to meet with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen, the leadership of the IMF, the World Bank, and the European Investment Bank.
