NBU governor leaves for Washington to attend World Bank, IMF meetings

Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Andriy Pyshnyy has left for Washington to participate in the annual Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group.

This is said in a statement issued by the NBU press service on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Andriy Pyshnyy and his deputy Serhii Nikolaychuk went on an official visit to Washington as part of Ukraine’s official delegation. The purpose of the visit is to participate in the annual Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, and to hold bilateral meetings with international partners," the report says.

As expected, the NBU governor will discuss the implementation of provisions of the Memorandum with the IMF, the impact of Russian military aggression and the issue of increased sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation, as well as the necessary steps to strengthen Ukraine’s stability and rapid post-war economic recovery.

In addition, the program of the visit includes a number of meetings with the leadership of the IMF, the World Bank, the EBRD, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the European Central Bank, heads of European central banks, and other international partners.

As reported, Ukraine received the first tranche of $2.7 billion from the International Monetary Fund under the new Extended Fund Facility (EFF) Arrangement.
