Since the beginning of 2023, Ukraine has received almost $5 billion in aid from the European Union and more than $2 billion from the United States of America.

"Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has received almost $5 billion in aid from the European Union and more than $2 billion from the USA. We have an agreement on a new arrangement with the IMF. We received financial assistance from Great Britain, the World Bank, Germany, Spain, Finland, Ireland, Switzerland, Belgium, Iceland, and Estonia," Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said at the Cabinet’s meeting on March 28, the Government portal reports.

He noted that Norway extended the program of payments to 50,000 Ukrainians who have difficult living conditions and suffered from Russian aggression. Likewise, payments under UN and ICRC programs are ongoing.

Moreover, over the past seven months, within the framework of a joint project of the Ministry of Reintegration, Ukrposhta, and international organizations, one-time cash assistance worth more than UAH 300 million in total has been provided to residents of the de-occupied territories.

According to Shmyhal, today the Government will adopt an order to receive the second $2.5 billion grant from the USA this year. These funds will arrive through the project of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association. Another $150 million will be provided by other partners. This will make it possible to attract the second $2.6 billion tranche this year. These funds will be used to pay salaries to rescuers, teachers, doctors, and benefits to pensioners, internally displaced persons, people with disabilities, and low-income families.
