Today, Ukraine is among the countries that are best equipped with autonomous power systems and generators. This significantly improves its energy security.

That’s according to Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Chairman of the Board of NEC Ukrenergo, Ukrinform reports with reference to the company's press service.

"Ukraine is now one of the countries that are best equipped with autonomous power systems and generators. Autonomous power sources enhance our energy security at the level of individual households and small businesses. This gives us more confidence ahead of the next winter period, which also promises to be difficult," he said.

The Ukrenergo chief specified that currently, in many cases, backup power schemes are applied, therefore Ukraine needs to restore stationary power supply schemes for all regions, in particular destroyed substations and power plants.

"[We have to – ed.] maximize the fleet of power units that we will operate during the next winter period. This is the main task: to restore the power system's ability to cover winter-period consumption," Kudrytskyi concluded.

As of the morning of March 8, there had been no capacity deficit in the power system for 25 days in a row as the situation of the power system remained stable.
