Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal of Ukraine discussed with the IMF European Department chief Alfred Kammer the launch of a new long-term program for Ukraine.

The talks were held before the IMF negotiation mission is set to start its work, Ukrinform reports, referring to Shmyhal’s Telegram channel.

"The start of the new long-term IMF program was discussed during a conference call with the chief of the IMF European Department Alfred Kammer," the prime minister said.

He recalled that the negotiation mission on the Extended Fund Facility would kick off its work in Warsaw.

"We make every effort to promptly agree on all the parameters and quickly reach the agreement. We expect that the total amount of funding will be over $15 billion," the prime minister said.

According to Shmyhal, the new long-term program with the IMF support will send an important message to investors and donors, who are ready to invest in Ukraine, and will help create a solid basis for the country’s rapid restoration and consolidation of efforts for Ukraine's accession to the EU.

It was reported that from March 8 to March 15, a mission of the International Monetary Fund will be working in Warsaw to discuss the parameters of a potential future program for Ukraine.
