Ukrinform
As of the morning of January 2, the situation in Ukraine's power system remains fully under control.

That's according to the grid operator NEC Ukrenergo, Ukrinform reports.

"In the early hours of January 2, the Russians again attacked the energy infrastructure with their drones.  Unfortunately, damage has been sustained.  At the same time, as of 11:00 on January 2, the situation in the power system is fully under control," the statement reads.

It is noted that due to network restrictions caused by significant destruction in main grids as a result of 11 missile and 14 drone strikes by the enemy, in order to prevent additional accidents, consumption caps for the evening period were introduced across regions.

As a result of the night attack, the situation with the electricity supply in Kyiv became more complicated. In this connection, emergency shutdowns are in place.  Restoration work is already underway.

Ukrenergo emphasizes that, together with electricity generation companies and regional power distributors, they continue to restore damaged facilities to ensure power supply to consumers and increase reliability.

As reported with reference to regional military administrations, since the beginning of 2023, as of 9:00, on January 2, the Russian army has carried out massive attacks on 11 regions of Ukraine and Kyiv.
