During New Year’s holidays, Russia may try to deal a significant blow to Ukraine's power system. If no new damage is incurred to the grid, Ukrainians will be able to enjoy a few days without blackouts.

"The Russians have not given up on attacking the power system. They are sticking to certain dates. And maybe the New Year is one of those dates when they will try to damage our power system as much as possible," he said.

At the same time, Galushchenko emphasized that it is difficult to assess the scale of possible shelling or damage. However, he noted his hopes rest with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which, as shown by recent shelling, protect the sky over Ukraine quite effectively.
