Capacity shortage in the power system remains significant, as do the existing limitations in the power transmission system.

That’s according to NEC Ukrenergo, the power system operator, Ukrinform reports.

"As of December 26, the capacity deficit in the power system remains significant. There are also limitations in the electricity transmission system as a result of significant damage to the trunk networks by Russian massive strikes. In this regard, consumption caps have been set for all regions," the statement reads.

It is noted that due to exceeding caps, emergency shutdowns have been introduced in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, Lviv, and Kyiv regions, as well as in the city of Kyiv.

Repair works are ongoing at generation facilities and across power grids. Due to the scale and complexity of destruction, repairing the equipment and restoring operations of a number of key facilities requires considerable time.

As reported, in the early hours of Monday, December 19, Russia launched another group of kamikaze drones targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Ukraine shot down 30 UAVs out of 35 launched.

Regular missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities have been ongoing since October 10.
