Nationalization of five strategic companies will help ensure defense needs - Zelensky

The nationalization of JSC Motor Sich, PJSC Zaporizhtransformator, PJSC AvtoKrAZ, PJSC Ukrnafta and PJSC Ukrtatnafta is a necessary step that will help ensure the urgent needs of Ukraine's defense sector.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in a statement on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"Our repulse of the enemy must be as effective and coordinated as possible. At a meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the decision was made to transfer the assets of strategically important enterprises - JSC Motor Sich, PJSC Zaporizhtransformator, PJSC AvtoKrAZ, PJSC Ukrnafta, PJSC Ukrtatnafta - to state ownership. Such steps, which are necessary for our state in the conditions of war, are carried out in accordance with the current laws and will help ensure the urgent needs of our defense sector," Zelensky said.

He added that in these difficult times it is necessary to direct all efforts to liberate Ukraine and its people and support the Ukrainian army.

Earlier, the Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov, said that the assets of engine-maker Motor Sich, transformer maker Zaporizhtransformator, vehicle maker AvtoKrAZ and energy companies Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta had been transferred to the Ministry of Defense.
