Ukraine starts testing import of electricity from Europe

Ukrinform
JSC Energy Company of Ukraine has started testing import of electricity from Europe.

“To support the energy system of Ukraine in the event of generating capacity shortage, the state energy trader JSC Energy Company of Ukraine (JSC ECU) carried out the first test supply of electricity from Slovakia. The actual import with a capacity of 1 MW took place on October 27, 2022," reads a report posted on the company’s website.

The company received the right to import electricity following an open auction for access to interstate power grids, held by the national transmission system operation Ukrenergo on October 25.

As reported, since October 10, Russia has been carrying out massive strikes with missiles and kamikaze drones on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The strikes damaged more than 45 energy facilities.
