Andriy Pyshnyy appointed NBU governor

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has appointed Andriy Pyshnyy as governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, Yaroslav Zhelezniak announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

The relevant decision was supported by 290 MPs.

In 1996, Andriy Pyshnyy graduated from Chernivtsi State University, with a law degree. In 2005, he graduated from the Ukrainian Academy of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine. In 2000, Pyshnyy began his career at Oschadbank - first as head of the legal department, later as first deputy chairman of the board and acting chairman of the board. From March 2014 to November 2020, Pyshnyy was the chairman of the Board of JSC Oschadbank.

Andriy Pyshnyy is a member of the Yermak-McFaul International Expert Group on sanctions against Russia.

As reported, on October 6, the Ukrainian parliament dismissed Kyrylo Shevchenko from the post of NBU governor.

On the same day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky tabled in the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution on the appointment of Andriy Pyshnyy as NBU governor.
