Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and his Polish counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki at a meeting in Kyiv discussed military cooperation, the strengthening of sanctions against Russia, preparations for a difficult heating season and the development of border infrastructure between the two countries.

According to Ukrinform, Shmyhal reported this on his Telegram channel.

"The main topics of the meeting included military support, the strengthening of sanctions against the aggressor, preparations for a difficult heating season and the development of border infrastructure," Shmyhal said.

He recalled that from October 1, Ukraine would join the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure, so he invited his Polish colleague to start organizing joint control at checkpoints. Poland is ready to invest in the development of border infrastructure, so the construction of new checkpoints can take place immediately with the possibility of joint control, Shmyhal said.

The Ukrainian side also handed Poland proposals on how to quickly speed up border crossing by trucks, including through the introduction of phytosanitary control beyond checkpoints.

Earlier reports said that number of trucks at the border with Poland is constantly growing due to the low capacity of Polish customs checkpoints. A few days ago, a line of trucks near Yahodyn reached more than 50 km.

Ukraine proposed opening additional checkpoints and received a positive response from Poland regarding the start of registration of empty trucks at the Ustyluh (Ukraine) - Zosin (Poland) checkpoint.
