More than 1,000 civilians evacuated from Donetsk region over past day

Over the past day, August 26, 1,069 civilians received help and left Donetsk region.

"Over the past day, the personnel of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Donetsk region evacuated 10 people from the zone of active hostilities in Kramatorsk and Bakhmut districts. Also, rescuers transported 118 people, including 43 children and three people with disabilities, from a collection and registration point to evacuation trains," the Donetsk Regional Military Administration reports.

In the town of Toretsk, rescuers helped 51 people, including 12 children and eight people with disabilities; during the evacuation in Pokrovsk district – 372 residents, including 82 children and 24 people with disabilities.

In addition, 518 citizens were evacuated with the help of the police on August 26.

As reported, mandatory evacuation is being carried out in Donetsk region, which is under constant enemy fire, has no gas supply and constant problems with water supply. By the autumn-winter period, no more than 235,000 people involved in the defense and maintenance of critical infrastructure should remain in the region, the rest should be evacuated. Until February 24, 1,670,000 people permanently lived in Donetsk region.
