Ukraine’s export of grain and oilseeds could reach 4 million tonnes by the end of August, which is more than 50% of the pre-war level.

Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, Denys Marchuk, stated this during a nationwide telethon on Ukrainian TV channels, according to Ukrinform.

"Ukraine currently demonstrates quite good export volumes of grain and oil crops. In July, we managed to transport almost 3 million tonnes. In August, we have already exported 670,000 tonnes. That is, according to the results of August, we can reach a rate of somewhere around 4 million tonnes of grain and oilseeds. This is even more than 50% of the pre-war level," said Marchuk.

He also reminded that last year, using various logistics channels, Ukraine exported about 6 million tonnes of agricultural products every month. Therefore, the resumption of shipping through the ports of Great Odesa will help to increase the export potential.

"I would like to remind you that, having sea ports, last year we loaded about 6 million tonnes every month. Therefore, the potential for using various export routes is growing. The only issue is ensuring the safe movement of ships in the Black Sea. As many as 27 ships have already left our seaports. Another 18 ships are at docked for loading, and 40 have applied for entry. If we want to reach the pre-war level, we need to load about 80-100 ships every month through the Black Sea ports," said Marchuk.

As reported, 20 days since the launch of the "grain corridor," 27 ships carrying a total of 670,000 tonnes of agricultural products left Ukrainian seaports.

On July 22 in Istanbul, at the suggestion of the United Nations, Ukraine, Turkey, and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres signed the Initiative on the safe transportation of grain and food products from the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi.
