Russian aggressors are preparing to put the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant to a halt and disconnect it from the energy system of Ukraine.

That’s according to Ukraine’s nuclear operator Energoatom, Ukrinform reports.

"We have information that the Russian occupation forces are planning in the near future to put to a halt the operating power units and disconnect them from the power lines supplying electricity to the Ukrainian power system. Currently, the Russian military is looking for suppliers of fuel for diesel generators, which should be turned on after the power units are stopped amid the lack of external power supply for nuclear fuel cooling systems," the statement reads.

It is noted that on the evening of August 18, a propaganda film crew arrived at Enerhodar, the NPP’s satellite city. Its members held a meeting with Russian FSB operatives.

It is reported that these strikes were carried out from two locations – a bus station and a discharge canal. In the first case, the impact was heard within 1.5 seconds, and in the second case, the impact was heard after three seconds.

Energoatom has called on the international community to take all necessary measures for the de-occupation of the Zaporizhia NPP as soon as possible.

As reported, Ukrainian intelligence has received new confirmation of reports regarding the preparations of provocation by the invaders on the territory of the Zaporizhia NPP on August 19.

The Russian military captured the ZNPP on the night of March 4. Since then, military personnel and heavy equipment have been stationed on the NPP premises. In early August, the invaders also several times shelled the territory of the ZNPP. Also, the plant was mined.

The EU and 42 nations have called on Russia to immediately withdraw troops from the Zaporizhia NPP and the entire territory of Ukraine.
