"In the morning, another ship loaded with Ukrainian agro-industrial products left for the port of destination. It is also very important that the ships come to us for being loaded. Today, four ships are expected to arrive, two of them, as far as I know, are already in one of the ports, they are loaded with Ukrainian wheat, and after this procedure they will go along the specified route," Serhii Bratchuk, the spokesman for the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine–Ukrinform.
He emphasized that the route was safe and thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the liberation of Zmiinyi Island which was a key factor in the opening of this project.
Bratchuk also thanked the guarantors of this project — the UN and Turkey.
According to the information of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, the bulk carrier I Maria loaded with 33,000 tonnes of corn left Chornomorsk port. The ship heads towards the north of Africa and will arrive in Egypt in a few days.
Since Ukraine, Turkey, and the United Nations signed the Istanbul Initiative on safe shipping, 25 ships with Ukrainian foodstuffs have left Ukrainian ports for the Bosphorus.
As reported, two documents were signed in Istanbul on July 22 with the participation of Ukraine, the UN, Turkey, and Russia on the creation of a corridor for grain export from three Ukrainian ports – Chornomorsk, Odesa, and Pivdennyi.
