Zelensky, Kariņš discuss Ukraine’s grain exports

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Latvian Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš have discussed the situation with Ukraine’s grain exports and support for granting Ukraine EU candidate status.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Twitter, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“On the eve of the European Council’s session had an important conversation with Krišjānis Kariņš. Grateful to Latvia for supporting Ukraine’s candidate status. This decision is important for Ukraine & the entire United Europe. Discussed the situation on the export of Ukrainian grain,” Zelensky wrote.

A reminder that the European Council will hold a substantive discussion on granting Ukraine the status of a country candidate for membership in the European Union at a meeting on June 23-24, 2022.
