The European Union has officially suspended all duties on imports coming into the EU market from Ukraine to boost Ukraine’s economy affected by the Russian aggression.

The relevant statement was made by European Commission Spokesperson for Trade and Agriculture Miriam Garcia Ferrer at a briefing in Brussels, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to Miriam Garcia Ferrer, the Regulation that suspends all duties on imports coming into the EU from Ukraine was published in the Official Journal.

“It will enter into force tomorrow, June 4, and will apply until June 5, 2023,” Garcia Ferrer said.

In her words, the European Commission welcomes the swift adoption of these measures by the European Parliament and the European Council, following its proposal of April 27, 2022.

“This is an unprecedented step to boost Ukraine’s economy, severely weakened by the Russian aggression,” Garcia Ferrer stressed, adding that it will help alleviate the difficult situation of Ukrainian producers and exporters in the face of Russia’s military invasion.

A reminder that, on April 27, 2022, the European Commission proposed to suspend for one year import duties on all Ukrainian exports to the EU.
