Ukraine may significantly increase fuel imports via Poland

As part of the Polish-Ukrainian Energy Forum, Ukrainian and Polish government officials, business representatives, logistics enterprises and companies managing fuel infrastructure have developed practical solutions to overcome Ukraine’s fuel market crisis.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Economy Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

A number of large oil depots and Kremenchuk Oil Refinery were destroyed in Russia’s continuous attacks on the Ukrainian fuel infrastructure, and the issue of fuel supplies became urgent.

“Now Poland can be a major transit country for Ukraine’s fuel imports, ensuring the delivery of more than 200,000 tonnes of fuel products monthly. Meanwhile, over the past month, the volume of fuel supplies has barely reached 60,000 tonnes. As part of the forum, participants developed practical solutions to increase the volume of deliveries in the near future,” the report states.

According to Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister, Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, there is a potential opportunity to expand Polish resources with petroleum products from the United States, Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region, German, Scandinavian and Baltic oil refineries. Fuel deliveries will be carried out by combined transport means via Poland.

Svyrydenko noted that Ukrzaliznytsia JSC and Poland’s PKP would synchronize operating schedules to immediately resolve any problematic issues.

In her words, such steps would help to deliver fuel supplies faster and reduce lines at Ukrainian filling stations in the near future.
