Ukraine and the Netherlands have agreed to organize business missions for investors.

This was discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Mark Rutte in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Government portal.

"Business missions could be organized on the basis of embassies with the participation of government officials. For our part, we shall organize a similar business mission to the Kingdom of the Netherlands to find common ground in areas of interest to both sides," Shmyhal said, noting that such meetings may involve representatives of relevant ministries.

Rutte, in turn, noted that the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as one of the largest investor countries, is ready to continue to cooperate and support Ukraine.

PM Shmyhal noted that the volume of Dutch investments in Ukraine’s economy had amounted to more than USD 11 billion in January-October 2021.

"The Netherlands is an important trade and economic partner of Ukraine and one of the major investors in the Ukrainian economy. I am convinced that the volume of these investments can increase significantly due to joint efforts. This applies not only to traditional areas of cooperation, but also to the most advanced areas of cooperation, such as land reclamation, mining, and engineering," said the Head of the Government of Ukraine.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked the Netherlands for its consistent support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stressed that Ukraine appreciated the principled position of the Netherlands in condemning Russia's aggression.

According to Shmyhal, Ukraine seeks support in the development of the Armed Forces and defense cooperation, so he thanked the Kingdom of the Netherlands for backing the decision on allocating EUR 31 million for the current needs of the Armed Forces under the European Peace Facility.

Among other things, the heads of government discussed the investigation into the MH17 downing. Shmyhal stressed that Ukraine confirmed that all necessary measures had been taken to properly consider lawsuits against Russia in the European Court of Human Rights. Ukraine also fully supports the position of the Netherlands on the need to honor and perpetuate the memory of the victims of the downing.

As reported, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte is on a working visit to Ukraine on February 2.
