Ukraine's agricultural sector showed the highest growth rate over 11 months of 2021 compared to other sectors of the economy – by 16.7%.

"The agricultural sector continues to be the engine of the economy, the guarantor of stable export earnings and food security of Ukraine and the world, the hub of tens of thousands of jobs and billions of local budgets," Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Roman Leshchenko announced, the Ministry's press service informs.

According to him, more than 10,000 agricultural enterprises and 55,000 farmers received UAH 4.6 billion in state assistance this year.

"We applied new approaches and focused on small and medium-sized agricultural producers in industries that needed even more attention from the state: livestock, horticulture, processing of agricultural products, agricultural machinery. As of now, the state support is 100% paid out," the minister said.

The minister stressed that a sustainable agricultural policy made it possible to set record yields, as well as to provide more than 30,000 new jobs over the calendar year. He noted that next year the priority would be still given to processing, animal husbandry, horticulture, and reclamation because these areas create the largest number of jobs. In addition, they are the most capital-intensive in terms of added value.

In addition, according to the official, the focus will be laid on a new area: agricultural insurance. It will help farmers to operate more confidently, despite natural and financial difficulties. The land reclamation as the new direction of state support has already made it possible to launch pilot projects in various regions and will be scaled up after the launch of the association of water users in 2022.
