PM: Gas prices for households to remain unchanged throughout heating season

The government is keeping its promise of a constant gas price for the population. Thanks to annual products, the price of gas for all households will not change until the end of the heating season.

That’s according to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal who delivered an opening speech at a Government meeting on October 28.

"This week, the government also halved the tariff for those Ukrainians who found themselves without a gas supplier. The price will remain at UAH 7.96 per cubic meter. It will run from October 1 to November 30. Therefore, I urge people not to waste time and sign a contract with Naftogaz or another supplier in order to keep such a price for themselves throughout the heating season," said the prime minister

Shmyhal also stressed that it is forbidden to cut off gas deliveries to heat supply companies, schools, hospitals, and other social infrastructure facilities until the end of the heating season.

"This will mean that the whole country will remain warm throughout the heating season. Despite the global energy crisis, we have sufficient resources and strength to get through this winter. Now more than 70% of residential households have central heating operating. We expect that by early November, their share will be 100%," the prime minister said.

Denys Shmyhal added that all heat and power companies, as promised by Government, had the opportunity to buy gas for heating purposes from the state-owned Naftogaz at UAH 7.42 per cubic meter.

According to the head of government, this allows local authorities to refrain from raising household tariffs for heating and hot water.
