Zaporizhia farmers boast of record early grain harvest

Agrarians in Ukraine’s Zaporizhia region have collected the largest early grain harvest throughout the entire history of Ukraine’s independence, having threshed 3.21 million tonnes of grain.

That’s according to the regional state administration press service, Ukrinform reports.

“Harvesting of early cereals and legumes has been completed. In Zaporizhia region, we see the largest gross harvest for all years of Ukraine’s independence: 3.21 million tonnes of grain has been threshed. This year’s average yield stood at 31.8 centners per hectare. For comparison, last year’s yield was 27.7 centners per hectare,” reads a statement on the administration’s website.

The highest yields were sealed by agri companies in Polohy (683,700 tonnes with a yield of 36.2 c/ha) and Melitopol districts (552,900 tonnes with a yield of 31.6 c/ha).
