In January-July 2021, the exports of Ukrainian agro-industrial products to the EU increased by 10% compared to the same period last year, up to $3.7 billion.

"For seven months of 2021, the exports of Ukrainian agro-industrial products to the EU increased by 10% compared to the same period last year, up to $3.7 billion," the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) informs.

As of August 1, Ukraine fully used the quotas for duty-free exports of agri-food products to the EU in seven groups of goods: honey, cereals and flour, processed starch, processed tomatoes, grape and apple juice, poultry (volume for 3 quarters), and eggs (volume for 3 quarters).

Compared to the same period last year, the quota in two groups of goods was not used: sugar and corn. The sugar quota was not used due to the shortage in the Ukrainian market, while the corn quota – due to significant demand from China and the redirection of volumes through this sales channel.

By the end of the year, quotas on processed cereals (currently 99% used), starch (78%), and corn (74%) could be closed.

According to the Monitoring EU Agri-Food Trade report, Ukraine became the fourth largest supplier of agricultural products to the European Union in 2020, trailing only the United Kingdom, Brazil, and the United States.

As reported, according to the UCAB data, Ukrainian agricultural exports to the European Union in 2020 decreased by 10.8% compared to 2019.
