Large-scale privatization begins this month – Shmyhal

"A large-scale privatization starts this month. Preparations for the auctions were discussed at a meeting with Ukrainian State Property Fund Head Dmytro Sennychenko and Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov," Shmyhal wrote on Telegram.

According to Shmyhal, the State Property Fund has reported that the revenues from privatization in 2020 amounted to UAH 2.25 billion. This year, they plan to attract up to UAH 12 billion from auctions to the state budget, which is more than in the last five years.

The prime minister also instructed the Ministry of Economy and the State Property Fund to prepare a list of facilities for privatization for 2022-2023 within a month.

As Ukrinform reported, in March 2021, the Verkhovna Rada passed bill No. 4543 ‘On Amendments to Section V ‘Final and Transitional Provisions’ of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Privatization of Public and Municipal Property’ Regarding Large Privatization’.The draft law lifts the ban on large privatization auctions, which was imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. The Ukrainian State Property Fund expects to receive UAH 12 billion from privatization auctions in 2021.
