IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva praised her phone call with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine on Wednesday.

“Very constructive call with President Zelensky on Ukraine’s sound economic progress made under the IMF program,” Georgieva wrote on Twitter Wednesday, July 28, according to Ukrinform.

She has also expressed hope for “our productive engagement to advance our work on remaining issues during a mission in September.”

As Ukrinform reported earlier, ahead of the phone call with Georgieva on Wednesday, Volodymyr Zelensky said he believes Ukraine is ready to receive from the IMF a new tranche of macro-financial assistance.

During the call, Zelensky invited Georgieva to visit Ukraine to discuss in person further steps of effective cooperation.
