President Volodymyr Zelensky believes Ukraine is ready to receive a new tranche of macro-financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund, announcing a phone call with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva scheduled for the afternoon.

The statement came as the head of state was speaking with the media within the framework of the Ukraine 30. Decentralization Forum, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Today I’m having a conversation with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, at 18:00, I believe, I’m having a call about our situation," the president said.

Zelensky is convinced that Ukraine has done a lot to be ready for receiving the new IMF tranche.

According to the Ukrainian leader, the Ministry of Finance and the IMF are finalizing the arrangements.

"I believe that in terms of our country’s responsibility and structural beacons for reform, on principle, we’re at the final stage, and I believe we’ve done everything. There are some specific things as regards coordinating certain processes related to the Ukrainian budget, the future budget for the years to come. This is already a question to be addressed by mid-level management at the finance ministry and the IMF," the president explained.

The head of state added that the measures he had promised regarding reforms had already been launched, in particular, land and banking reform bills, as well as legislation on the reform of the High Council of Justice and the High Qualification Commission of Judges, had been adopted, while the SBU reform bill passed its first reading in Parliament.

"I think we are ready to receive the tranche," Zelensky stressed.

As Ukrinform reported, in early July, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko visited Washington for talks with the IMF leadership on further cooperation under the Stand-By Arrangement, as well as for negotiations with the U.S. government officials

In June 2020, the IMF Executive Board approved an 18-month US$5 billion Stand-By Arrangement for Ukraine.
