PM Shmyhal, World Bank representatives discuss reforms, joint projects
During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of reforms in Ukraine, as well as joint projects. In particular, the Prime Minister noted that Ukraine lifted the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land on July 1, which in fact gave a start to land market reform.
"Over the first six days, 322 land agreements were registered, which were previously subject to a moratorium. For the first time in 30 years, Ukrainians are able to dispose of their land freely. The opening of the land market and the development of the agricultural sector must take place in line with the principles of the ‘green’ economy. We are interested in the experience of the World Bank and support in introducing such technologies,” said Shmyhal.
He also noted that one of the largest reforms in Ukraine was decentralization, which changed the administrative and territorial system and the country embarked on a new path of development. The Prime Minister stressed that these are extremely important changes for regional development and community prosperity.
The interlocutors also discussed judicial reform, the development of anti-corruption infrastructure, the energy sector and the fair transformation of coal regions.
For her part, World Bank Vice President Anna Bjerde stressed that Ukraine will remain an important partner for the World Bank.
As reported, the fourth International Ukraine Reform Conference was held in Lithuania on July 7-8.
