Executive Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis praised Ukraine's efforts to sign the ACAA Agreement with the European Union and drew attention to the implementation of EU food standards in Ukraine.

"We are making good progress in assessing Ukraine's readiness to discuss the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products ... In Ukraine, this is known as the ‘industrial visa-free regime’, we call it the ACAA," Dombrovskis said at the 4th Ukraine Reform Conference in Vilnius.

He noted that the agreement would greatly facilitate the access of Ukrainian products to the EU market.

According to him, there is still much work to be done before the talks begin, but Ukraine "has already made many efforts to comply with European standards and regulations."

The Vice President of the European Commission also noted that Ukraine was on its way to acceding to the Convention on Common Transit Procedure.

"Once this is done, this simplified procedure and less waiting time at customs will directly help companies and customers in both the EU and Ukraine," Dombrovskis said.

The official also noted that Ukraine had implemented about 80% of EU food safety regulation and 45% of animal health and welfare legislation.

"This is very good news, and it paves the way to progress in the agricultural sector," said the Executive Vice President of the European Commission.

As reported, Prime Minister Shmyhal said on February 17 that Ukraine hoped to sign the ACAA Agreement with the European Union this year, which would provide ample opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses.
