Ukraine’s milk production decreased by 5.3%

Milk production in Ukraine decreased by 5.3% between January-May 2021 compared with the same period in 2020, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

In particular, Ukraine’s milk output amounted to 3.43 million tonnes between January-May 2021, including 1.4 million tonnes produced by agricultural enterprises (down 0.6% from last year) and 2.29 million tonnes by private households (down 6.5%).

The highest volumes of milk production over the reporting period were recorded in Poltava region – 274.8 thousand tonnes (down 6.0% from last year); Vinnytsia region – 267.0 thousand tonnes (down 7.3%), Khmelnytskyi region – 254.8 thousand tonnes (up 1.2%).

The lowest volumes of milk production over the reporting period were recorded in Luhansk region - 35.8 thousand tonnes (down 8.4% from last year); Donetsk region – 55.8 thousand tonnes (down 6.2%); Zaporizhzhia region – 74.9 thousand tonnes (down 8.3%).

As reported, according to data provided by the State Statistics Service, Ukraine’s milk production between January-May 2020 decreased by 3.6% compared with January-May 2019.
