Ukraine exported more than 4.4M tonnes of sunflower oil in MY 2020/2021

In May 2021, Ukraine exported about 502,000 tonnes of sunflower oil. The main importing countries in May were India (34.6%), EU countries (26%) and China.

As Ukrinform reported, in the 2020/2021 marketing year, Ukrainian farmers harvested about 13 million tonnes of sunflower, of which about 6 million tonnes of sunflower oil would be produced.

On April 19, 2021, the Economy Ministry and Ukroliyaprom Association signed a memorandum of understanding, which envisages the maximum volumes of sunflower oil exports at the level of 5.38 million tonnes for the 2020/2021 marketing year.

A relevant draft resolution has been developed, which proposes introducing restrictions on sunflower seeds’ exports from May 15 to September 30, 2021. The text of the resolution for discussion was published on the Economy Ministry’s website on April 20.
