Ukraine plans to attract almost ₴80 B international loans in three years

In the next three years, Ukraine plans to attract UAH 79.6 billion in loans from international financial organizations and foreign countries for the implementation of economic and social development projects.

"In 2022 – 2024, it is planned to attract loans for the implementation of economic and social development projects of Ukraine to the tune of UAH 25.53 billion, UAH 26.53 billion, UAH 27.53 billion, respectively, within the framework of cooperation with international financial organizations, foreign states, and foreign financial institutions," reads the financial and economic explanation of the Budget Declaration for 2022-2024 published on the website of the Ministry of Finance.

These loans are planned to be disbursed, in particular, to modernize the infrastructure of the fuel and energy complex, power generation facilities, and power grids (2022 – UAH 3.83 billion, 2023 – UAH 2.38 billion, 2024 – UAH 1.02 billion) and to improve the condition of principal roads and border infrastructure (respectively, UAH 5.59 billion, UAH 5.86 billion and UAH 7.38 billion).

In addition, the loans will be used for financing the rehabilitation of infrastructure, replacement, and modernization of equipment at heat supply, water supply, and sewerage companies (2022 – UAH 3.46 billion, 2023 – UAH 6.55 billion, 2024 – UAH 6.89 billion), improving the quality of healthcare and social protection of the population, as well as overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic (UAH 2.01 billion, UAH 1.52 billion and UAH 0.74 billion, respectively), restoring infrastructure in the eastern regions of Ukraine (UAH 1.62 billion, UAH 0.55 billion and UAH 0.57 billion).

The Cabinet of Ministers submitted the Budget Declaration for 2022-2024 to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration on June 2.
