The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is ready to assist Ukrainian exporters in entering the markets of Algeria, Deputy Foreign Minister Dmytro Senik has said.

On June 1, the Council of Exporters and Investors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Embassy of Ukraine in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria held an online briefing for Ukrainian exporters.

Senik noted that Algeria has been consistently among the top five major trading partners of Ukraine in Africa in recent years. In the first quarter of 2021, it regained its position as Ukraine's second largest trading partner on the African continent.

"The trade turnover between Ukraine and Algeria over this period has already reached USD 130 million, more than 95% of which is Ukrainian exports. Although this market is not simple and has certain trade restrictions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is ready to provide assistance to Ukrainian companies in doing business with this promising country," he said.

The Ukrainian diplomat stressed that the prospects of cooperation with Algeria also depend on the active position of Ukrainian producers.

During the event, the diplomats shared useful links with Ukrainian entrepreneurs wishing to export products to Algeria.

As a reminder, the Council of Exporters and Investors under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is a platform on which the Ministry accumulates information on investment and trade opportunities from around the world. The Council facilitates business contacts between Ukrainian exporters and importers abroad.

As Ukrinform reported, on April 6, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Senik and representatives of the Egyptian government and business discussed the increase in trade and investment in Ukraine's economy.
