Ukrainian farmers already sown 95% of projected area with spring grain crops

In particular, 174.7 thousand hectares (99%) were sown with wheat, 1.33 million hectares (96%) with barley, 186.8 thousand hectares (96%) with oats, 229.6 thousand hectares (98%) with peas.

Vinnytsia, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Kyiv, Poltava, Rivne, Lviv, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Kherson, Odesa, Donetsk, Cherkasy and Mykolaiv regions have completed sowing early spring grain crops.

According to the ministry, farmers also sowed 226.2 thousand hectares (100%) with sugar beets, 4.6 million hectares (72%) with sunflower, 3.9 million hectares (74%) with corn. Nine regions sowed 26.3 thousand hectares (33%) with buckwheat, ten regions sowed 25.9 thousand hectares (22%) with millet, and all regions sowed 626 thousand hectares (45%) soybeans.

As reported by Ukrinform, according to experts, the gross yield of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine may reach 70.7 million tonnes in 2021, which is 8.8% higher compared to 2020.

In 2020, Ukraine harvested 65.4 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops from an area of 15.3 million hectares. Ukraine harvested 83.8 million tonnes of major crops from an area of 24.1 million hectares.
