The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) will impose sanctions against 12 more legal entities and individuals over smuggling.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said this in a video address available to Ukrinform.

"The National Security and Defense Council will impose sanctions against the second group of smugglers. Sanctions are applied to 12 individuals and legal entities," the head of state said, adding "this is not the end."

According to him, a "layer of smugglers" has appeared in Ukraine over the past 30 years.

"It feels like it's a certain profession. But the state didn't make any state order," the president said.

At the same time, he noted that many smugglers have more than one citizenship. "Today, the SBU is working on this. We see who of the smugglers has many passports, multiple citizenship. Many of them have dual, even multiple citizenship. We will also solve this issue," the head of state stressed.

As reported, on April 2, following a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, personal sanctions were imposed against the so-called “top ten” Ukrainian smugglers.
