The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has decided to raise its key policy rate to 7.5%.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko said this at a briefing on Thursday, April 15.

"The Board of the National Bank has decided to raise the key policy rate to 7.5% per annum," Shevchenko said.

He said this step was aimed at gradually slowing inflation in the second half of 2021 and returning it to 5% in the first half of 2022.

On March 5, the NBU decided to raise its key interest rate to 6.5% from 6%. The key rate of 6% has been in place in Ukraine since June 2020, and the NBU Board has kept it at the same level since last summer.
