Ukraine’s public debt amounted to $91.4B in late Feb
“As of the end of February 2021, the total public and publicly debt of Ukraine amounted to UAH 2,552.96 billion in the national currency equivalent ($91.41 billion in the foreign currency equivalent). Compared to the previous month, the public and publicly debt of Ukraine decreased by UAH 5.28 billion in the hryvnia equivalent, mainly due to the reduction of the publicly debt by UAH 5.23 billion,” reads the report.
In February, the hryvnia exchange rate against the U.S. dollar strengthened slightly, leading to a decrease in the public foreign debt by UAH 11.20 billion in the hryvnia equivalent, while the public domestic debt increased by UAH 11.15 billion. In the dollar equivalent, public debt increased by USD 0.75 billion.
As of the end of February 2021, the share of public debt in the hryvnia equivalent increased to 39.5% (+0.6 percentage points compared to the previous month).
In February, the Finance Ministry held four auctions for the placement of domestic government bonds and raised UAH 38.4 billion to the state budget.
