Diia City to ensure IT sector growth by 40-50% annually – Fedorov

The special legal framework for the IT industry, called Diia City, will ensure the growth of the IT sector by 40-50% annually, according to Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.

"Due to Diia City we can become a real IT nation. This will double the number of IT employees (from 200,000 to 450,000) in 4 years. Diia City will ensure the growth of the IT sector by 40-50% annually (today it is 20-30 %), as well as increase revenues of the IT industry to $16.5 billion (in 2019 - $6 billion)," Fedorov wrote on Facebook.

He added that this regime is voluntary. Everyone who will work at Diia City resident companies - IT specialists, digital marketers, edtech specialists, e-sportsmen, designers will have the opportunity to work as freelancers and at the same time have social guarantees.

As reported by Ukrinform, in early June 2020, the Ministry of Digital Transformation announced the launch of the Diia City project - the world's first virtual business country. The purpose of the project is to create favorable conditions for the development of innovative and technological business. It is planned that the project will be of interest to Ukrainian and international IT companies, investment funds, startups, educational organizations.
