PM: Ukraine seeks to implement judicial reform as soon as possible to guarantee business confidence

“The Prime Minister noted that Switzerland is one of the five major investors in Ukraine's economy, and praised the consistent support of Ukrainian reforms, including decentralization reforms,” the Government portal informs.

"The decentralization has become one of the most successful reforms, which yielded its benefits not only to society but also to business. At present, almost 20 reforms are underway, including those related to the electricity, gas and land markets. We also strive to implement judicial reform as soon as possible as this guarantees business fairness and confidence. We understand that this is the key factor of investment attractiveness and facilitation of doing business in Ukraine, " the Prime Minister stated.

Shmyhal also noted that Ukraine was joining the European Green Deal (EGD). An appropriate working group has already been established and work is underway to establish a Ukrainian Green Course as a state strategy based on the EGD.

"Ukraine has a strategic goal to switch to green energy together with Europe by 2050. And by 2040 we have a plan for the fair transformation of coal regions, which envisages a gradual transition to clean energy," the Prime Minister underlined.

In addition, upon commission of the Prime Minister a draft law was elaborated to simplify the connection to the grid, which will increase Ukraine’s position in the Doing Business rating and improve the investment climate. The relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada has already backed the document and it will be submitted to the Parliament soon.

Shmyhal added that Ukraine continued simplifying access to public services, in particular, by creating a single web portal of e-services and a single state register.

"All permits have been transferred to the unified state register, which has become transparent and overt. In six months of work, 60,000 permits have been issued through this system," the Prime Minister said.

According to Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine commits to develop infrastructure facilities through public-private partnerships and concessions. As Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklii stressed, concession projects of the Black Sea container terminal, Odesa Passenger Terminal, seaports in Mariupol and Izmail are currently being prepared. The minister called on representatives of Swiss businesses to participate in concession tenders.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Roman Leshchenko, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Petrashko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova Claude Wild and others.
