Ukraine continues cooperation with IMF - Zelensky

Ukraine continues cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), but the country should make a number of decisions to receive the next tranche, including at the legislative level, which takes some time, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.

He said this in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels as part of the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Infrastructure," the President's Office reported.

"The program with the IMF has not been closed. We are in a program from which we have received $2.1 billion. There are three tranches in this program. We still have two more tranches of 700 million [U.S. dollars] each if we take this program separately. Now they had to provide a date when the second tranche of 700 million [U.S. dollars] will be allocated. The program was not implemented due to some things, for example, in the legal area - it is the law on the High Council of Justice," Zelensky said.

He noted that the previous Ukrainian government had promised the IMF to pass a law on the High Council of Justice for years, but it had not fulfilled this promise. The current government and the current convocation of the Verkhovna Rada now have to develop and adopt the necessary legislation very quickly, Zelensky said.

"We have registered a bill on HCJ. We have registered a bill on NABU. There are several other economic bills that we have to adopt. That's an agreement we have reached," he said.
