Ukraine is negotiating to attract a foreign investor for manufacturing rolling stock for Ukrainian railways.

"Negotiations are also underway to attract a foreign investor for manufacturing rolling stock for Ukrainian railways with further location [of manufacturing facilities] in Ukraine," President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a speech at the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Infrastructure", an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

At the same time, he assured that the Kriukiv Railway Car Manufacturing Plant had a state order now and manufactured new passenger cars for the Ukrainian railways.

“In addition, we are improving existing routes, Intercity train routes and preparing new ones. Our goal is that a railway trip between the [Ukrainian] cities should take three or four hours at most,” the President added.

As reported, on January 29, President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the prospects of cooperation in modernizing the rolling stock of Ukrainian railways, suburban and urban rail transport with a delegation of the Swiss company Stadler Rail AG led by Peter Spuhler, the President of the Board of Directors, co-owner of the Stadler Rail AG.
