Ukraine may sign ACAA agreement with EU this year - Shmyhal

Ukrinform
Ukraine hopes to sign this year an Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA) with the EU, which will provide ample opportunity for small and medium-sized businesses, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

He said this at a government meeting on Wednesday, February 17, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The EU mission has already begun assessing Ukraine's readiness to sign an agreement on the so-called 'industrial visa-free regime,' which will give small and medium-sized businesses ample opportunity to sell their goods in European Union markets. We look forward to receiving recommendations as soon as possible and signing the agreement this year," Shmyhal said.

The Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU provides for the prospect of concluding an ACAA agreement. Earlier, the government said that the ACAA agreement could potentially account for a fifth of Ukraine's exports to the EU, primarily engineering products, facilitating trade and raising the image of Ukrainian products in global markets.
