Ukraine will receive EUR 50 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the purchase of vaccines and refrigeration equipment for the network of vaccination centers.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

"Ukraine will receive EUR 50 million from the European Investment Bank for the purchase of vaccines for the population and modern refrigeration equipment for the network of vaccination centers. We have just signed the relevant agreements with EIB President Werner Hoyer at the Bank's Headquarters in Luxembourg," Shmyhal wrote.

He added that the funds will be allocated under the current project "Program for the Development of Municipal Infrastructure of Ukraine".

As reported, Ukraine will receive 8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine within the framework of the COVAX Facility, in particular 117,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and from 2.2 million to 3.7 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine during the first and second quarters.

The Ministry of Health plans to start a COVID-19 vaccination campaign in February 2021. The ministry plans to vaccinate 50% of the population of Ukraine in 2021-2022.
