Decline in Ukraine's GDP in 2020 was 4.2% – Petrashko

The fall in the gross domestic product (GDP) of Ukraine in 2020 amounted to 4.2%, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko has said.

He said this during the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Coronavirus: Challenges and Responses" in Kyiv on February 9, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Since June 2020, quarantine restrictions have begun to ease, and at that time we made a macroeconomic forecast and expected a 4.8% fall in GDP. I would like to note that according to the latest data, we see that the fall was 4.2%," Petrashko said.

As Ukrinform reported, Ukraine's GDP shrank by 1.3% in the first quarter of 2020 year-on-year, by 11.4% in the second quarter, and by 3.5% in the third quarter. According to the National Bank's estimates, the drop in GDP in 2020 was 4.4%.
