Ukraine's international reserves shrank by 1.1% in January 2021, to $28.821 billion, the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reported.

"As of February 1, 2021, Ukraine's international reserves, according to tentative data, amounted to $28.821 billion (in equivalent). They decreased by 1.1% in January, primarily due to repayment of external and internal liabilities of the state. At the same time, the National Bank's interventions on the foreign exchange market and foreign exchange earnings in favor of the government partially offset the impact of public debt service payments on the reserves," the report said.

Ukraine's international reserves in 2020 grew by 15%, to $29.133 billion.
