Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said he hopes that Ukraine and Georgia will continue to expand bilateral dialogue and resume the positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation.

He stated this at an online meeting with Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia, the Government portal reports.

Shmyhal stressed that Ukraine and Georgia, as strategic partners, have all the prerequisites for intensifying cooperation in this area.

"We are ready to comprehensively discuss a number of further areas of cooperation: from overcoming the effects of the global economic crisis and relocating the production chains of international companies to our countries to expanding the structure of trade turnover and deepening investment cooperation," said Shmyhal.

According to him, despite the pandemic, Ukraine expects to hold the Tenth Meeting of the Joint Ukrainian-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in 2021.

"The Commission has not met since April 2017. Therefore, I propose to exert every effort for the Commission to resume its work as soon as possible. We are ready to hold a meeting in the format of a video conference," said Shmyhal.

The prime minister of Ukraine and the prime minister of Georgia also discussed the integration of the countries into the European Union and NATO.

Shmyhal expressed support for the priority set in the Action Program of the Government of Georgia for the building of a European country. He also congratulated Giorgi Gakharia and all members of the Government on the upcoming New Year and Christmas.
