The Energy Ministry expects that unprofitable mines in Ukraine will be closed within the next 10 years.

First Deputy Energy Minister Olha Buslavets stated this during the first German-Ukrainian Energy Day, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The Energy Ministry is completing coordination procedures on the concept of reforming the coal industry. According to this concept, we expect that all unprofitable mines will be closed within 10 years. In the coming years, we will minimize subsidies to state-owned enterprises from the budget," said Buslavets.

She reminded that Ukraine is planning to completely abandon fossil fuels and become climate neutral by 2070.
