Ukrainian farmers gathered grain crops from 99% of planted area

As of December 7, Ukraine harvested 81.9 million tonnes of main crops from an area of 24 million hectares, including 63.5 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops from an area of 15.1 million hectares, or 99% of planted area, according to the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture.

In particular, Ukrainian farmers gathered 27.9 million tonnes of corn from an area of 5.2 million hectares (96%) and almost 2.8 million tonnes of soybeans from an area of 1.3 million hectares (99%).

Ukrainian farmers also almost completed gathering sunflower seeds – 13.1 million tonnes from an area of 6.4 million hectares, and sugar beets – 9.1 million tonnes from an area of 215.5 thousand hectares.

As for the autumn sowing campaign, according to data provided by the ministry as of December 7, Ukrainian farmers sowed almost 8.08 million hectares with basic winter crops (98% of the forecast), including 79.3 thousand hectares during the past week.

In particular, Ukrainian farmers sowed 6.1 million hectares with wheat (100%), 954.7 thousand hectares with barley (101%), 125.2 thousand hectares with rye (94%), 7881.1 thousand hectares with rapeseed (87%).
