Shmyhal: Ukraine and Turkey are one step away from doubling trade
"We have intensified our cooperation and neared the point where we have an opportunity to increase trade turnover and investment, improve teamwork and multiply results. If we sign the Free Trade Agreement, we will manage to double our trade turnover at least; and if we increase investment, more jobs could be created,” Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said in an exclusive commentary to Ukrinform following his two-day working visit to Turkey.
He also underscored the interest in Ukraine-Turkey cooperation in the healthcare sector.
"Today, Ukraine needs such medical facilities as, for example, city hospitals built in Turkey. Much of our healthcare system is outdated, and we should build hospitals according to new principles in the process of its reform. Turkey is ready to provide us with knowledge and technologies on how to implement similar projects in Ukraine," the Prime Minister stressed.
According to him, Ukraine seeks to further develop dynamic cooperation with Turkey in many sectors and areas - from the economy, aerospace and military-industrial complex to the cultural sphere and tourism.
"Relations between Ukraine and Turkey as neighbors have very good prospects and future. These are projects in the field of industry, some of them - in the defense industry, healthcare sector, cultural sphere, tourism. The space industry cooperation is very promising. Active work is underway within infrastructure projects. A number of Turkish companies already work effectively in Ukraine with the investment portfolio worth more than half a billion dollars," the Head of the Government of Ukraine said.
According to Shmyhal, Ukraine and Turkey have intensified bilateral relations and contacts at the highest level, and his current visit was aimed at putting into practice the projects previously agreed upon by the presidents of the two countries.
As reported, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal began a working visit to Turkey on November 29.
Prime Minister is accompanied by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Strategic Industries Oleh Urusky, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzheppar, and Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Taras Kachka.
